EWP®150 Kit Remote Electric Water Pump (12V) (Part #8060)

The EWP®150 Alloy 12V is available in three options:

  • Pump Only (Part #8160)
  • Kit (Part #8060)
  • Combo with Controller (Part #8970)

The world’s first universal-fit, automotive Electric Water Pump goes one better with the EWP®150. Suitable for all makes and models – will excel on large six-cylinder engines, V8 engines, heavy duty 4WDs and most engines over 400 HP.

Upgrade your cooling system with the Davies Craig EWP®150 Alloy Electric Water Pump. Designed for remote mounting, it suits high-output, turbocharged, supercharged and modified engines that generate excessive heat, as well as intercooler applications.

The compact EWP®150 Alloy features -AN16 ORB internal inlet and outlet fittings for clean, screw-in installations. It can complement or replace the factory mechanical water pump to improve coolant temperature control and help free up engine power.

EWP & CONTROLLER INSTALLATION DEMONSTRATION

Combined with an LCD EWP®/Fan Digital Controller (sold separately, Part #8002, or included in an EWP® Combo Pack), the system manages both EWP® and Thermatic® fan operation:

  • Varies pump speed in response to coolant temperature.
  • Multiple temperature targets for performance or fuel efficiency.
  • Activates Thermatic® fan(s) at 3°C (5.4°F) above the set temperature.
  • Runs on after shutdown for up to 3 minutes (or until 10°C / 14°F below the set point) to reduce heat soak and help extend engine life.
  • Combo Pack includes a DIY kit with everything needed for fitment, plus an instruction booklet.

The world’s most advanced total engine cooling management system:

EWP® INSTALLATION OPTIONS

Installing an EWP® as an AUXILIARY PUMP

  • Leave the mechanical water pump in place and install the EWP® into the bottom radiator hose.
  • Remove the thermostat and drill two approx. 3mm (1/8") holes in the thermostat plate to allow some circulation when the thermostat is closed. Refit with clean sealing surfaces and a new gasket if required.

EWP® installation – disabling the mechanical water pump

  • Install the EWP® into the bottom radiator hose and remove the manufacturer’s thermostat.
  • Bypass the water pump pulley using an appropriate length belt (not supplied).
  • If running the pump continuously, drill two approx. 3mm (1/8") holes in the thermostat plate to allow some circulation. Refit with clean sealing surfaces and a new gasket if required.

In both cases, the EWP® pumps past the impeller of the mechanical water pump.

Disengaged mechanical water pump (recommended)

  • Remove the thermostat and mechanical water pump.
  • Remove the impeller from the pump shaft, then refit the pump and pulley as an idler to avoid re-routing the drive belt.
  • Block bypass passages and refit with clean gasket surfaces and correctly installed gaskets to prevent leaks.
  • Install the EWP® into the bottom radiator hose.

Removed mechanical water pump (ideal)

  • Remove the mechanical water pump and thermostat.
  • Install a Davies Craig EWP® header adaptor or blanking plate (not supplied), using the correct gasket or sealant on clean surfaces.
  • Install the EWP® into the bottom radiator hose (hose modification/replacement may be required).
  • Fit an appropriate length belt (not supplied) to drive accessories.

In most cases the EWP® is supported by the radiator hose. If mounting is required, soft-mount the pump to protect against vibration. For EWP®115, EWP®140 and EWP®150, mounting bracket Part #8700 or #8710 is recommended.
